Groovin’ NYX Haul!
I’m one of those people who watches an excessive number of YouTube gurus, and like many, I’ve seen the brand NYX pop up multiple times and I’d always wanted to try out some of their products, but I thought that would be impossible since I live in Australia. BUT, last week when I was strolling through Melbourne Central, I noticed a NYX stand in Melbourne Central at the Groove store where there was a really decent range of products available. So I ended up picking up a few (or more) NYX products that I’d been wanting to try, plus a palate from the Kleancolor brand which was on sale (:
The NYX eyeshadows I picked up were in Exotic Green (a deep dark emerald green, which isn’t showing the gorgeous green specks of shimmer), Iced Mocha (a matte dark taupe) and a 10 colour eyeshadow palate. Overall, I was pretty happy with all of these. At $7.99 for the individuals, and about $10 for the palate (which doesn’t seem to be as pigmented as the individual pots), I think they’re a decent price. However, in the future I think I’ll go for something from Australis or Face of Australia because the quality is about the same (if not better) but the other brands are more accessible and tend to be a bit cheaper (especially with all the offers Priceline constantly have!)
As for the NYX blushers, I LOVE these. I completely understand why people rave about these so much, especially the cream blushers. They’re pretty reasonably priced (I think they were about $10 each), very soft and easy to blend, with a really good range of colours available. The best part of it all (in my opinion) is that from what I could tell, a lot of them had little to no shimmer making them great for everyday, quick and easy use (: I’ve been using Golden everyday, and I think it’s such a great colour to give a bit of colour, but not so much that it’s terribly noticeable (kind of a toast to the no blush trend going on at the moment).
Finally, for the Kleancolor palate. This was one of those last minute at the counter deals where I was thinking, well $5 for a few fun colours would be worth it, even if the quality wasn’t great since I didn’t think I’d be using the brights too often. The girl at the counter did tell me that they were surprisingly well pigmented given the price of them, but I was still skeptical. All I can say is that these are really impressive. They’re very smooth and pigmented (more pigmented than the NYX eyeshadows) and I love that they’re shimmery, but not remotely chunky or glittery.
